El año del tigre

The tiger in El año del tigre (The Year of the Tiger) is Héctor Madera himself. The title is also the name of the year of the Chinese calendar that began on February 1, 2022, the year SGR Galería dates the painting to: "Le decimos adiós al año del Buey y entramos en el año del Tigre, el 1 de febrero de 2022" (We say goodbye to the Year of the Ox and enter the Year of the Tiger on February 1, 2022), CNN en Español announced.

When SGR Galería, a gallery in Bogotá, brought "pinturas y neones de Héctor Madera" (paintings and neons by Héctor Madera) to its stand at Zona Maco 2022 in Mexico City, it wrote that its three artists' works "son representativas del estado y lenguajes de las nuevas generaciones que están formando los lenguajes del arte contemporáneo latinoamericano" (are representative of the state and languages of the new generations who are shaping the languages of contemporary Latin American art).
