Luisa Montoya (1995–)

2026

Óleo sobre mdf · 25 × 35 cm

In her text for Good Boy, Luisa Montoya's exhibition at Galería [SN] in Bogotá in March and April 2026, Ana Mosseri, who founded the gallery in 2016, writes that in the Good Boy series Montoya takes up a recent experience, living with her dog Elvis through his first two years. Mosseri sets the series beside David Hockney's Dog Days, his paintings of his own dogs.

Montoya, Mosseri writes, thought that painting a dog who followed her everywhere would be simple, "casi como pintar su propia sombra" (almost like painting her own shadow), and had not imagined that she would be the one who had to chase him.

This painting was donated to Arte por Colombia (Art for Colombia), an online benefit sale that Colombian galleries, among them Galería [SN], organized together after the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, 2026, giving the full price of every work sold to the relief effort.
