Cienmillones niños

Bordado a mano sobre lino teñido con cúrcuma · 37.5 × 37.5 × 4.5 cm
Cienmillones niños (A Hundred Million Children) is a panel from Paula Osorio's series Cadenas invisibles (Invisible Chains). On her website Osorio describes the series as made with slow, artisanal methods to set it against industrial production, and its embroidered texts as figures on the most sensitive and urgent issues in the fashion industry's statistics.
The figure on this panel appears in an Instagram post of hers from March 2025: according to a UNICEF report, she wrote, more than 100 million children are affected by the fashion industry, along its production chain or as children of parents who work in its factories, facing poor nutrition and a lack of access to education.
Cientocincuenta millones arboles (A Hundred and Fifty Million Trees) is another panel from the series.
