2023
Loza, pigmentos cerámicos y esmalte / Earthenware, ceramic pigments and glaze · 52 × 145 × 100 cm
Julio Galindo, a ceramist born in Llerena, Badajoz, in Spain, in 1988, has made monkeys before: his 2022 exhibition Post-Apocalipsis at VETA by Fer Francés, the Madrid gallery that shows him, included a Mono araña (Spider Monkey).
The magazine DXI, reporting the gallery's text, described that exhibition as "una alegoría sobre cómo podría ser un futuro próximo si el ser humano se extinguiese" (an allegory of what the near future could be like if humans went extinct), questioning "la huella que dejamos como raza en el mundo y el ecosistema" (the mark we leave as a species on the world and its ecosystem). In his work, DXI wrote, one finds "toda clase de simbología espiritual, religiosa y ecologista" (every kind of spiritual, religious and ecological symbolism).
