María Catalina Muñoz Gómez (b. 1996), known as Cata Muñoz, is a Colombian painter, born in Bogotá. She was born with Silver-Russell syndrome, a rare genetic condition. El Tiempo reports that her mother, Luz Dary Gómez, saw her ability from the age of three, when she made her first drawings.
Her early paintings were portraits of her mother, siblings and other relatives, and of public figures such as Juanes and Pope Francis. The faces in them usually smile. She has also painted her own versions of the Mona Lisa, Van Gogh's The Starry Night and work by Frida Kahlo. After the portraits came series of flowers, and her teacher Mery Ruth Monsalve has worked with her on both. In January 2026 El Tiempo reported that she paints every Tuesday in her studio, six hours a week with Monsalve. The Fundación Catalina Muñoz, which builds houses across Colombia, is named for her and was inspired by her life, and her portfolio says the proceeds from the sale of her paintings go to it.
In 2017 the gallery Casa Tafur in Bogotá hung 41 of her works. In 2019 the Inter-American Development Bank invited her to show her work at its Washington headquarters with other young artists with disabilities, in a show her portfolio calls Art of The Rough Diamonds. In the fall of 2025 Espacio Bel-ART in Bogotá showed Visa artística al interior del ser, which included abstract paintings built on geometric figures. In September 2026 she showed her paintings at ARTBO, the international art fair in Bogotá, for the first time. Before it opened, a post on her Instagram account said: “Para mí, pintar siempre ha sido una forma de contar historias sin palabras” (for me, painting has always been a way of telling stories without words).
